Former Prime sex surrogate Susa Anghard has never been off her planet, let alone out of the Cejuru solar system. While she isn’t naive about men and what they want, she isn’t prepared for the predatory males who now have her in their sights. When she’s kidnapped on her way to a galactic rim jump station to visit her cousin Borac, she has no expectations of being rescued. She vows to free herself or die trying.

When Borac Anghard asks Damon Martin to intercept his cousin Susa’s transport and escort her to their jump station, Damon agrees. When he arrives to meet Susa’s ship, he finds she’s been kidnapped by alien mercenaries. He goes in hot pursuit and prays he finds her before she’s delivered to the person who paid for the kidnapping.

When Damon catches up with the kidnappers, he hadn’t expected to find the resourceful Susa in the act of getting away. And he really hadn’t expected to be so attracted to her. An attraction that could go nowhere—she was his business partner’s cousin and Damon still wasn’t over losing the only woman he’d ever loved.

Take one alpha-male with a slightly broken heart, add in one Prime female finding her courage and self for the first time—throw them together in close quarters in a trip across the galaxy and love will find a way.

Prime Target will go live on Monday, November 19, 2018 and will retail at $4.99.

A Prime Chronicles Short Story- Prime Claiming is NOW OUT!

MM_TPC_PrimeClaiming_300x400 Yes, just in time for the Holiday Season — a Prime Chronicles Short Story.

When I was writing Prime Imperative, I had many fans asking whether there would be more stories in the Prime Chronicles world after I finished the third book.  I had never really thought beyond the end of the third book, but with all the outpouring of love from my Prime fans, I decided to set it up so I could continue to write in this world for at least another trilogy.

This short story is not part of the next trilogy, but more of a scene that occurred off-stage in the third book. Hey, I was inspired. 🙂 Cheri has such a large personality and I wanted to see how Zaek would handle it.  I hope you all agree he handled Cheri very well.

The action in Prime Claiming takes place during the action in Prime Imperative between Chapter 14, which was on the Galanti on the way to Cejuru Prime after picking up Bria’s team from the planet Oz, and before Chapter 15, about a week after they had arrived on Cejuru Prime.

Blurb:

Warriors from the planet Prime are renowned throughout the galaxy for their strength and fighting ability. And when they meet their mate, they bond for life.

Like all Prime males, Lieutenant Zaek Magga had searched forever for his mate…but he never expected her to be a Terran. Unfortunately, no Terran would be prepared for the reality of the carnal bonding process between a Prime male and his chosen mate. He decides to move very slowly.

Cheri Stafford never expected to be a Prime warrior’s mate. But she is. At first, she’s thrilled, then…confused. After seeing how other Prime males act with their mates, Cheri doesn’t understand why Zaek is holding her at arm’s length. Doesn’t he want her? He hasn’t even kissed her properly.

But when Cheri uses all her womanly wiles to get Zaek to move, she discovers how thoroughly an extremely dominant male warrior will claim his female.

******

As for the trilogy, it will begin with Damon and Susa’s story for the romance arc. There will be a subplot which will carry continue through the trilogy, involving tracking down the exact toxin that harmed Prime females’ immune system and caused the infertility/miscarriage issues that were crucial in the first trilogy.  The subplot will also focus on discovering and bringing to justice the Prime medical researchers and doctors who assisted the man behind the plot to destroy the Prime race (no spoilers here, but if you’ve read the third book you know who the evil mastermind was). Of course, this search into what and who will bring with it danger — and Susa has information she doesn’t know she has. And Damon will be forced to protect her since the trouble follows her to his jump station.

But all that is for later.

When exactly?  After I finish my next SSI book, Storm Warning.  So, patience please.  🙂

Muse Wednesday: Vanessa North

I’d like to welcome fellow Liquid Silver Author, Vanessa North, to Muse Wednesday. Let’s see what book and author inspired her to write.

As a young bibliophile, I devoured every book I could find, especially those dealing with science fiction, fantasy, or mythology, and The Firebrand, by Marion Zimmer Bradley, was one of the first books to really change my life.

It’s not as well known as the MZB’s Mists of Avalon, but the Firebrand and I had a long love affair–I re-read it over and over again, and I still, twenty-something years later, take out that same battered hardcover and turn it’s tear-stained pages looking for a little magic from time to time. The Firebrand tells the story of Kassandra of Troy, who was cursed to always speak the truth, and to never be believed.

What was it about this book that captivated me so completely? I was maybe twelve years old the first time I read it. I was only beginning to understand and see the injustice of being a woman in a world governed by men. The sturdy feminist spark in the book called to me, and I answered it. I began, at that young age, to see myself as a feminist.

However, in addition to feminism, there was also adventure, war, love, passion. There was the tragic bromance of Achilles and Patroclus. The Centaurs and the Amazons. Petulant gods and goddesses warring over the island of Troy and its people. It was the story of women in a man’s world, told from a place of both privilege–Kassandra was a princess, after all–and oppression–princess or no, Kassandra was a woman.

When I began writing, I found the stories I wanted to tell were often stories of strong women in a man’s world. A sturdy feminist spark that was lit when I was just beginning to understand gender inequality has carried forward into my own work. It was no coincidence that I named my first novel “Amazon” in homage to the strong warrior-women in The Firebrand. It should come as no surprise to any who know me that very often the heroines of my story are fighting to take or hold a position of power in a male-dominated society, be it the werewolf society in my Ushers series, or the deep space military in Fight or Flight.

The Firebrand was named for Paris, the prince whose fate burned Troy, but it lit a spark in me, a shy girl with a love of books, and that spark burns still.

Blurb:

Commander Nadia Petrovich, Science Officer of the Alliance Starship Galanti, has a problem—which has nothing to do with science. Her problem is Commander Huw Caradoc, the Galanti’s Chief Engineer. She and the stubborn Prime male have a growing connection he refuses to acknowledge—a bond that could drive him mad.

They are connected psychically and the bond grows stronger every day. If Nadia didn’t know it was impossible, she would suspect they were mating in the Prime tradition—a biological imperative that locates and marks a Prime’s optimum mate. But she isn’t Prime, as Huw tells her and anybody who’ll listen.

Nadia’s emotional anguish couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Prime and Galactic Alliance merger is finally under way, and the all-male Prime crews are learning how to work with female Alliance crew members. The Antareans threaten the outer arms of the Milky Way, and Prime rebels wreak havoc on the Prime home planet and elsewhere.

Despite the conflict surrounding them, Nadia and Huw will not be able to avoid their fate or their growing love. Prime selection will make the decision for them whether the timing is right or not.

Excerpt:
Nadia entered Sick Bay on a run and immediately sought out Lia.

Lia looked up from her computer monitor and smiled. “Nadia! How are you?” The doctor’s smile faded as her gaze zeroed in on Nadia’s face. “What’s wrong?”

God, did she look that bad? She glanced at her reflection in the glass window that overlooked the treatment area of the medical facility from Lia’s office. Yeah, she looked that bad—pale and exhausted … and with good cause. The cause’s name was Huw “Sex Machine” Caradoc.

“Hide me! Quickly!” Nadia checked over her shoulder. “Huw’s hunting for me. I can’t … just can’t…” She pressed a hand over her pulsing mark, her need increasing as Huw came closer and closer. She groaned low in her throat and felt her face flush red. “The man is a freaking sex maniac!”

Nadia collapsed into the visitor’s chair next to Lia’s desk. The doctor stared pointedly at Nadia’s hand and chuckled. “Don’t laugh, Lia. It’s not funny. I can’t get any work done. I’m exhausted. Sore—And still so horny I’m about to scream.”

Lia swiped at the tears of her laughter with the back of her hand. “Nadia … I hate to ask, but how many…?”

Nadia shuddered. “Five times since breakfast and that doesn’t count the orgasm he gave me while we had breakfast.” Her voice increased in volume as she gestured wildly with her free hand. “In the Officer’s Dining Room, Lia! He made me climax in public just from manipulating my mark. If he continues at this pace, I’m not sure I’ll survive.” She turned pleading eyes to her friend. “Do you have any energy bars? I’m starved.”

Lia opened a drawer and handed her a protein bar. “Here. Eat. Now, tell me about the sex … does he initiate every, um, meeting?”

“Yes. I sense he’s trying to accelerate the week of courting I’d asked for, so I’ll move in with him sooner.” Nadia gobbled the bar in three bites, chewing and swallowing as if she hadn’t eaten for days instead of an hour ago at lunch. After which, Huw had taken her in a maintenance closet over the back of a workbench. Her ass still burned from the slaps he’d given it before he plowed her pussy from behind. It had been the second time that day for rear entry.

“I love your ass, lubha,” he’d whispered into her ear as she came screaming into the hand he’d held over her mouth. After his climax, he’d tenderly wiped away their combined fluids from her sex and thighs with a soft cleaning cloth and then kissed every single inch of the heated skin on her bottom, soothing what he’d reddened.

She groaned at the memory of his words and actions. Dammit! She wanted him to take her again, and soon—in just that way. She was a sick, sick, sick person to want him again. Yet, though she desired the sexual intimacy, she couldn’t do it. Physically. Could. Not. Do. It. She was sore, and her sex felt raw.

Huw nudged at her mentally and she rebuffed him. “Go. Away. Work. I’m tired.”

“Nadia … cwen … lubha … I love you. Let’s take a nap.”

“I need a nap … but we’d do it again. You can’t help yourself, and neither can I … I can’t handle more sex right now.”

“I promise to hold you. Just cuddling. On my honor … I need your skin next to mine. I have to have your scent on me, surrounding me. Stay with Lia. I’ll be there soon.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of. Huw … gemat … I love you. But if you try to put your cock in me again … I’ll punch your lights out. I swear it.”

Huw’s low rumble of amusement sent shivers over her skin, making her even hotter. “I promise … just a nap.”

The Bewitching Halloween Blog Hop

It’s that time of the year again which means besides trick-or-treaters and ghosts and goblins, it is time for another Halloween Blog Hop from the folks at Just Romance Me. This is just one stop along the tour, so if you started here, you might want to go back and start HERE, so you can visit all the blogs needed to make you eligible to register for the Grand Prize and all the other prize bundles.

Everyone has a different approach to what they post on their blogs for these hops. In the past, I liked posting pictures of hunks, until I found out that linking to the site that posted all those pics of hunks was not considered fair use as defined by the Copyright Law. So, sorry, no more hunks.

Thus, since I have a new book coming out right before Halloween in my Prime Chronicles series, I have decided to promo it here and GIVE AWAY THE FIRST BOOK IN THE TRILOGY TO ONE LUCKY PERSON WHO POSTS ON MY BLOG.

Short excerpt:

“There’s an opening beyond. This block of granite either fell or was placed here.” Nadia looked at the smoothness of it. “I’m thinking placed. To block out the creatures?” She looked at Bre whose lips were fixed in a thin, grim line.

He nodded. “That would seem logical. The Prime who came here many millennia ago might’ve tried to box the creatures out of the tunnels they’d taken over.”

“The creatures would just eat through them.” Nadia stated the obvious.

“Maybe the Prime didn’t stay around long enough to know that. Ursa 345 was probably a way station infrequently used and they only needed security for short periods of time. These walls would slow the creatures down.” Bre shook his head. “Or at least I would hope so.”

“Then why hasn’t one of the creatures eaten through this one?” Nadia asked.

“Maybe they didn’t need to.” Bre looked around. “If their major diet is mineral-based, they have a whole planet to eat.”

“Too true.” Nadia with Bre by her side retraced her steps. A grinding noise above them had them looking at one another and then up. Cracks appeared in the rock ceiling and widened at a rapid pace, sending a shower of dust and rocks on them. A hot smell of acid eating at rock permeated the air.

Holy hell! Nadia froze for a split second, but it seemed like an eternity. Her primitive brain forced her to move. She shoved Bre in the opposite direction and followed him. She yelled between labored breaths into her com unit. “Get everyone … out of the tunnels … and caves … now! There are still live creatures down here.” They raced through the main tunnel and headed for the exit to the surface.

“Nadia! You’re in danger?”

Nadia had sensed Huw’s mental touch riding on the surface of the walls she’d constructed to keep him out. The shock of the creature eating through the tunnel ceiling, and her resulting gut-wrenching fear, had demolished her iron control. Her shields were down and Huw was inside instantly. “Can’t deal with you now, Huw.”

Huw remained silent inside her head, but his male energy rushed to supplement her own cortisol and adrenaline cocktail.

Behind her and Bre, more rocks fell as the jagged opening in the ceiling widened. Bre hung back, his weapon at ready, covering her ass.
Still running, Nadia looked over her shoulder. “Stop being a macho Prime. Get a move on! That’s an order, mister!” She had her laser pistol in hand with the power set as high as it would go. “We leave together or not at all. If it comes after us, aim for the head.”

“Yes, sir.” Bre sprinted to close the distance between them.

Both of them looked over their shoulders frequently. It was hard to see if anything pursued them due to the cloud of dust emanating from the hole in the tunnel ceiling.

“Not too far to the entrance cave now, I see light.” Nadia took a precious moment to pull her facemask down. The surface couldn’t sustain oxygen-breathers for long. Bre did the same. When they hit the surface, they’d have to hoof it until they reached their team. Safety in numbers and higher firepower.

“Aeron!” she yelled into her com unit.

“Yes, Nadia.” Aeron’s voice was calm, but she heard the tension underlying it. “How can we help? Z’es and his teams are ready to enter and…”

“No! Keep everyone out. Take a head count. I don’t want anyone underground. Be ready with the chemical grenades. I want to fire this thing up if he follows us out.”

The chemical grenades would react with the acid in the worm and burst into flames; at this point, she wasn’t a scientist interested in examining a potential new species. She was a very scared human not wanting to take a chance at the creature snacking on her teams.

“Commander, it’s following us. I see flashes of glowing skin among the detritus.” Bre’s words were breathy from exertion, but his aura was calm. Her geological engineer was one cool customer. “It seems to be smaller than the dried hulks we found.”

“I don’t care.” Nadia huffed as she climbed the last few steps to get out of the tunnel and into the large entry cavern to the complex. “It’s a dead baby. I hate snaky, wormy creatures. And it’s not safe to keep one alive.”

“Agreed, Commander.” Bre picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. “I can run faster and the baby is slithering along too rapidly.”

“God!” Nadia’s breath came out in gasps as she bumped up and down on Bre’s shoulder.

“Nadia. Bre is touching you. Why?”

“Not now, Huw!” What a time for Huw to pick to be jealous. As if he had any right to be after the way he’d treated her.

Fear froze her next breath as she spied the creature chasing them and closing the distance. Man, that worm was fast. Huw’s mental energy forced her to breathe since she seemed to have forgotten how.

Even if the pseudo-worm was a young one, the creature was still huge—and it was intelligent. She sensed its emotions. It read as hungry. Its black eyes glistened and its body glowed a black green under the artificial lighting of the cavern. The worm left a trail of slime, which vaporized the rock floor. Its teeth dripped the same goo.

Ooh, ick! A phantom hand stroked her hair, imparting comfort as Huw’s male energy calmed her stomach.

Placing her free hand on Bre’s ass, she braced herself and raised her laser weapon. She placed three strong blasts into the spot between the worm’s nasal slits. Most living creature’s brains were centrally located in the heads. Most head shots usually did the job.

But not this time.

*****

Hope you enjoyed Nadia’s flight from a man-eating worm.  You’ll have to read the book to see just how close her escape was.

Prime Selection, Book 2 in the Prime Chronicles trilogy, is due out Monday, October, 29th, from Liquid Silver Books.
